Juliette Binoche

Juliette Binoche comes from a family of actors and was trained at the École Nationale d?Art Dramatique of Paris. Shortly after graduating, she appeared in small parts in French feature films. She was noticed in Jean-Luc Godard?s Hail, Mary in 1985. Her growing reputation was then confirmed the following year with André Téchiné?s Rendez-vous (1986). She acquired international fame as Tereza in Philip Kaufman?s The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), then as the leading role in Léos Carax?s Lovers on the Bridge (1991). Critical and box office success followed with Louis Malle?s Damage alongside Jeremy Irons, Blue by Krzysztof Kieslowski, Fiddler on the Roof by Jean-Paul Rappeneau.In 1996, she was awarded the Oscar for best supporting actress as Hana in The English Patient by Anthony Minghella. In 2000, her work in Chocolat earned her nominations as best actress throughout the world. She pursued her career with Code Unknown by Michael Haneke, with whom she worked again in 2005 in Caché. Among her recent films are Mary by Abel Ferrara (2005), Breaking and Entering by Anthony Minghella (2006), The Red Balloon by Hou Hsiao Hsien, Paris by Cédric Klapisch and Summer Hours by Olivier Assayas.Née en 1964, Juliette Binoche est non seulement l'une de nos plus grandes actrices françaises, de renommée internationale, mais également une artiste complète.
